  • You get a full ride scholarship???
  • First pay for your own bus fare to the place you are attending, then pay the tuition in full yourself. Accepting handouts isn't a good way to start life. If you're smart enough to get into college, you should be smart enough to figure out a way to pay for it yourself.
  • I got a full ride from the ARMY!!!!
  • Contact the college and inquire about scholarship programs. If your test scores and GPA are good, chances are good that you will get some scholarship money. Also inquire about scholarship opportunities from your parents' employers, your own employer, and organizations you identify with. Fill out a FAFSA: http://www.fafsa.ed.gov You may qualify for a federal Pell grant that can pay for a portion of your education, but you can't get one unless you fill out the FAFSA. That application will also get you access to federal loan programs that can cover the difference between your scholarships and your total tuition. Also look into websites like Fastweb, which post lots of scholarship opportunities. Most of them are small awards, around $500, but every little bit helps. If you're still in high school, drop by the guidance counseling office and ask if they have any leads on scholarships you might qualify for. Bear in mind that you'll probably have to write lots of essays or do other odd projects to qualify for some scholarships. The money is out there, but competition for it can be fierce. If you need to get a loan, do so, but be sure you know what you're getting into before you sign that promissory note. A large school loan will be a burden on you for years after you graduate. The less you have to borrow the better. If you just can't manage to get all the money you need, consider taking more time to finish your degree--go half-time and work full-time to pay your tuition and living expenses.
  • be amazing and/or a wizard
  • There is a program called HEOP for students that didn't do so well in HS. That is in NY though, there may be sililar programs in other states. http://www.heop.org/
  • There is the obvious way of making good grades and having good test scores (SAT or ACT). Valedictorians usually receive full scholarships. Some people receive full rides for being excellent athletes. Others receive full rides from the government because of their economic situation. The less money you make overall, the easier it is for you to go to college for free. If your family makes less than $100,000 a year, you can get free tuition at Stanford University. You have to meet all other admission requirements as well though.
  • Move to a civilized country, where education is not dependant on income.
