  • Call and ask to speak with either the head manager, general manager, owner or director of Human Resources. Explain that you valued your position there and hoped they thought you were a valued employee. You sincerely made a scheduling mistake. You co-worker (NOT "friend") does not speak for you and she had no authority to tell them you had quit. Ask if there is a way you can resolve the issue. They will either be impressed by your candor and direct approach or they will not work with you on a resolution (in which case, you wouldn't want to work with them anyway). Don't bring up the fact that they did not fire her for a similar or worse offense. That is not relevant to the reason they fired you and will only make you look like a whiner. Keep your friend out of it completely.
