People will rate you down if they just don't like you. It's part of territory with users who don't understand the intention of the site. When I rate down I leave a comment explaining why. That's more honest.

You have made a childish person mad, somehow. Dont wory about downrates, they arent going to affect your score. When I see a downrate, I read it and decide if it should have been downrated, if not I add points to their answer.

I know what you mean. I asked a question and got downrated and couldn't figure out why either. Really, the DR didn't bothering me as much as only two people answered the question and it still didn't help. Would you please check this out for me and let me know what you think? Dunno. Your answer seemed a good one. Could be record industry hacks. When I was on Yahoo! Answers I had an account that was blatantly anti-copyright; I even used Mickey Mouse as an avatar. It was suspended within hours; and in one of the two accounts, all of my questions and answers removed.
