  • Limewire doesn't, but lots of files downloaded from it do.
  • You have to be very careful what you download from there. For example, if you are looking for a song and you find it but the file size is wrong, it is probably a virus. Or porn. Or porn with a virus.
  • how to get hpdeskjet 656c software
  • It would help if you'd started your own thread with that question but if you want HP software then go to the HP web site and look in the support section where they should have all the drivers and downloads available.
  • I was new to it and i got 18 viruses from it!
  • My computer is brand new and I have all my spyware and anti virus programs installed but I am still afraid to download Limewire. What would be a typical size file for a music download? I don't want to get hit with porn or ad spam spyware etc. Especially since my computer is brand new and squeaky clean.
  • A lot of files can come with a virus o r other malware inside. Always scan your downloads before playing them and check the size of your downloads. Normally the songs have a size between 2 and 6 mb. and stop using Limewire, switch to eMule ! is much better and safe.
  • For me, the best way to decide if it is a song or virus is to hold the cursor or mouse-thing over the file you are going to download, and a description should pop-up. Also, viruses disguised as songs are always in lower case letters, and the fille should be about 1 mb per minute of music.
  • not limewire. The software that you download from within limewire could poentially give you a virus.
  • Well my computer tells me if one of the songs is corrupted and aborts the download XD
  • sound files DO NOT contain viruses
  • .exe files downloaded from limewire may contain virus. Those are the application files. Multimedia files usually don't contain virus.
  • It depends on where ;you get limewire from. It does contain a file that could be interpreted as spyware. Try to get a real good antivirus that monitors your files and your computer constantly. Once you download a file, run it through your virus scan. Good Luck!
  • Some of the downloads are viruses or spam and it's best to try and preview things like music before you download them competely in case they are phony. It also pays to have good internet software to catch things when they are mistakenly downloaded. Good software usually catches the virus, trojan, ect. immediately after the completion of the download. If your computer starts to behave funky after a download anyway, run a scan to make sure nothing slipped through. Limewire as a whole is a great system for downloading and uploading, it just has its hitches like everything else.
  • yep i tried it once and the pc went hay wire when i ran the application i downloaded, never again mate there are much better platforms around than limewire
  • Limewire by itself does not give you a virus, unless of course it was infected to begin with, Limewire just allows people to share files and some of the files you download and then run can give you a virus, you have to be careful what you download with any software sharing program, always scan your downloads, usually music and movies are not infected, only executible files such as .exe .com and any file that you can execute such as ADE - Microsoft Access Project Extension ADP - Microsoft Access Project BAS - Visual Basic Class Module BAT - Batch File CHM - Compiled HTML Help File CMD - Windows NT Command Script COM - MS-DOS Application CPL - Control Panel Extension CRT - Security Certificate DLL - Dynamic Link Library DO* - Word Documents and Templates EXE - Application HLP - Windows Help File HTA - HTML Applications INF - Setup Information File INS - Internet Communication Settings ISP - Internet Communication Settings JS - JScript File JSE - JScript Encoded Script File LNK - Shortcut MDB - Microsoft Access Application MDE - Microsoft Access MDE Database MSC - Microsoft Common Console Document MSI - Windows Installer Package MSP - Windows Installer Patch MST - Visual Test Source File OCX - ActiveX Objects PCD - Photo CD Image PIF - Shortcut to MS-DOS Program POT - PowerPoint Templates PPT - PowerPoint Files REG - Registration Entries SCR - Screen Saver SCT - Windows Script Component SHB - Document Shortcut File SHS - Shell Scrap Object SYS - System Config/Driver URL - Internet Shortcut (Uniform Resource Locator) VB - VBScript File VBE - VBScript Encoded Script File VBS - VBScript Script File WSC - Windows Script Component WSF - Windows Script File WSH - Windows Scripting Host Settings File XL* - Excel Files and Templates moral is get a good antivirus software like Avira, and always scan your downloads, even then you can not be 100% sure.
  • It's very easy to calculate the file size of a music file (assuming CBR - Constant Bit-Rate). Bitrate/8 * song duration in seconds = filesize in KB. Example: 4 minutes at 160kbps 160/8 * 240 = 20 * 240 = 4800KB = 4,68MB Most mp3s are VBR though (Variable Bit-Rate), so you should deduct a bit out of it, something around 300 ~ 600KB I'd say.
  • ive received some, but my antvirus catches it right away and tells me to abort the download which i do. you need a good antivirus program. AVG is good and its free as is AVAST and its free. i personally like Avast
