What is worst: an atheist who respects the idea of God or a believer who does not respect God?

I would say the latter, especially among "true believers".

I am atheist. I will be honest. I do not believe there is a god, but also I can not prove there isn't one. I do not tell people there isn't a god because there could be. I also do not think that religious people should try to convert other people because they can't prove there is a god, or that there god or (gods) is the true god.

An atheist who respects one's right to believe in a god and to practice their religion as their deity commands is to be respected in turn - even more so if they respect the deity in question. A believer can be a believer even if they do not respect their deity or believe in their deity as much as proclaimed "true believers". As a believer, though not necessarily a "true believer", I feel the latter is far worse. As to the concern with conversion - this is a sticking point with many atheists or non-believers when dealing with Christianity or Islam - however they must understand that they are commanded by their deities to convert. In fact, for many of them it is a great sign of compassion to want to convert them. A simple "No thanks, but thank you." from a non-believer is sufficient and if the believer in question does not persist their attempts then you need to recognize that your relationship with them is probably going to be very short. In my opinion, a person who believes in God, but does not respect Him, is much, much worse. You can respect someone's beliefs without sharing them.

Respect trumps disrespect every time no matter the issue.

An atheist who respects the idea of God is not bad at all, they remain true to their own beliefs, but respect the spiritual needs of others. A beliver who does not respect God, is not a believer.

Neither of them are of even the tiniest consequence. I couldn't care less if I met an atheist who respects the idea of god, or a believer who holds some grudge against god - They are both delusional.
