  • They don't have to let you out of your contract. A cell phone agreement is a legal and binding contract. If you signed it you are bound by the conditions of it. You could try to reach an agreement with them through a customer srvice rep. but I wouldn't get my hopes up.
  • NO one will let you out of any contract. They're in biz for the money, and if they were willing to let you out w/out a financial penalty, they'd everyone out for everything. Many of us move, many of us find better deal, they don't care. That's why they have a huge penalty (equaling so many months' bills...). Sorry. BTW, depending on where you are in AK, you may be able to transfer your contract. SE doesn't have T-Mobile, Anchorage does...
  • They may be forced by law to let you out of the contract if you move to an area where they cannot service you. Other businesses have to let you out such as gym membership or Satellite Dish tv.
  • I don't know if they will let you out of it or not. But if they wont, I would find out what your options for cell phone service in Alaska are, and if there is more than one option, I would contact each (or all) of them, tell them your situation, and tell them you will give your business to whichever one will pay the disconnection fee of your current provider. They might consider it a good deal to pay $175 or so to get you into a 2-year contract with them. Good luck.
