When I have trouble sleeping, in my head I sing '99 bottles of beer on the wall...' Sounds silly, I know. But when it takes me longer than 2 seconds to figure out what number comes next, I know I'm getting sleepy. Worst countdown got to somewhere in the 40s. Good luck!

Get some Audio Books. I listen to them and they are relaxing .Even if you do not sleep you get somebody else to read to you.

I recommend trying a homeopathic remedy to help you calm down and sleep. It's called Hyland's Calms Forte and it's a non-addictive natural sleep aid. You can get it at pharmacies, at least in the US. My son has sleep issues, and this has been such a great help to him. It has improved his life immensely! I wouldn't recommend it if I wasn't completely impressed with this product. http://www.calmsforte.com/

Do some exercise. Walk or run or lift weights during the day. Tire yourself out with physical work.
-
Depends on whether it's every single night or just occasional. For just occasional, try Simply Sleep. If it's chronic, try melatonin and see if that helps.
-
Do more physical stuff in the day. If your body needs to shut down, it doesn't matter what your mind is doing, you push yourself to the point where you can't stand up properly. Also, as already mentioned, homeopathy, though I'd advise rather than just getting a remedy that works for someone, else, you go to a homeopath, as they can test you can find out which remedy would work best for you.

Have you tried good old fashion warm milk? It worked as a baby. :)

First of all, go the the doctor and make sure there isn't a medical reason why you're an insomniac. I was having problems sleeping years ago and it turned out I had hyperthyroidism.
-
Stop sleeping.
-
Get 2 tablets of sleeping pills from your pharmacist and sweet dreams to you.

g'day Olero, Thank you for your question. I would try doing something to relax my mind such as asking every part of your body to go to sleep. I would go and see what my doctor to see what was causing the problem. Regards

That is a tough questoin, and the best thing that helps me is talking about the problem or writing about it, like on a blog. Sharing your story can help relieve the sleep tension. For an example check out the blog at micksinsomniacures.blogspot.com Mick Thandi tries to help people find Insomnia Cures. He writes on his research about Insomnia.

Sleep on it! : )

Meditation...

drink coffee and stay on AB all night.

I really wanted to say "I dunno, you'd have to sleep on it." but that was just too far. I would suggest making sure your diet is high enough in salts and fats.
-
I wouldn't smoke that's a stimulant. I wouldn't drink sodas, or eat chocolate, or even drink coffee. I wouldn't drink alcohol either. This would definitely interupt my snoozing. I would eat a lovely piece, of fruit and hour before.

Every case is different, but physical exercise is usually a good antidote. In modern world, everyone gets used to the sedentary lifestyle and insomnia is sometimes your mind's way of telling you that it needs some rest. The only way to stop the mind from "work" sometimes is to turn your attention to physical activities.

When I can't figure something out, I sleep on it. Often I wake up with a solution, maybe you could try that with this problem. Oh, wait...

Try some meditation, concentrate on your breathing, and also you can buy "melatonin" in the grocery store, it's what your body produces to help you go to sleep.
