  • Go about it the smart way. Lure them into a trap. Make them jump over you so you can jump over them.
  • practice, try and control the middle of the board, dont hug the sides of the board. and get your kings before they do.
  • The best thing you can do is take the time to realize what exactly is really going on in the game of checkers. There are some opening moves that are popular for a reason...More than that, the game of checkers is a game of patterns. Some patterns can be used to force your opponent to move a certain way, some can be used to prevent your opponent from moving a certain way, some can be used to force you opponent to jump you, and so forth. For instance you can manipulate how the peices are moved across the board, by moving your peices in tight groups. If you do it right, you can move towards the opposite side of the board, with less of a risk of being jumped, forcing them to move around you, and force the other person to spread out their peices
  • distract them with some thing like "hey there's oprah winfrey in a UFO!" when they look snatch up the checker board and hit them over the head with it, when they fall down shove a few checkers in their mouth kick them in the gut and scream "KING ME!" well that's how I do it
  • Leave the checkers that are in the back row alone as long as possible, eventually your opponent will have no choice but to approach and be jumped. Strategic moving during the game helps achieve this.
  • Basics. You learn them. AND you follow them; just as in all other things in life. Try this advice: As others have said, retain your back row as much as possible. Keep your little men near the sides, but let your kings dominate from the centre. Learn to give one for one - especially, if it gains safer placing of your pieces. Learn how to set up strategies to offer [say] one piece to gain 2 or 3 opponent pieces. If you prefer less men on board, keep offering one for one until you are able to get your head around the amount on the board; some people like open spaces. You see the 'double corners' to your right? If you have to lose backline players, do your best to retain control of these double corners on the board, and gain control of the double diagonals that link them using your kings. They should be out there, commanding the game. Especially when the board has kings on it, do not leave any of your pieces, 2 spaces apart. The opponent will place a king between them and get one of them at least, and there is nothing you can do about it. That should get you started.
