I remember Joel explaining the reason why they did what they did , by lowering and canceling out things to give us all more room here to be able to add videos / pictures . Since it's you Ragamuffin and its great to see you again here is + 5 for you

I must say no. AB is having serious bandwidth problems and until they are able to sort them out, storing larger pictures on our profiles (although I love the idea) would only add to the problems. Now, one solution to the bandwidth problem is to bring back common sense moderation! Marking "What month where you born in?" a duplicate with "Where you born in March?" would reduce server load by approx 10% (imo) and that would not take anything away from the question(s) as they are essentially asking the same thing.

Sorry, Ragamuffin, but I'm going to go with "No" here. Please let me explain my position. Mostly, it's because of bandwidth issues. We can see bigger versions of avatars if people upload them into an anwser, and then click on the pic for the bigger version. Here's a question that was asked, and allows us to see the bigger pics in the answers: http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/323059 I think that's fine for my viewing pleasure. I'd rather do it this way, than to have to sacrifice performance on the site.

You dont give anyone a choice, you said to say yes. But, I never have been good with following directions, LOL. Why do you need a bigger avatar, is it a vanity issue? Or do you want everyone to see your cool picture more clearly, if so just add the same picture on your profile page.

Loading bigger avatars will just slow down the site more. We seem to have enough glitches now.That is a minor thing . Why do we need larger avatars ?
