No, they have that chance now and are not planting bombs.

White Christian supremecists exist already...

Hmmmm for some reason I don't see Southern babtist strapping bombs on handicapped women and exploding them at the mall so I guess not

While their beliefs can be just as narrow and rigid, I don't see them acting the same way. Islamic terrorists want to rid the earth of non-believers; the fundamentalist Christians claim the next life for their own and seem largely content with telling the rest of us we won't get to share it.

They're generally too vain and egotistical to blow themselves up in the name of their Invisible Sky Daddy; but given their own way, I'm sure they'd be every bit as intolerant and malicious towards minorities and people of different religions as any member of al-Quaeda. Just read any column by Ann Coulter, if you have any doubts...

yes, if the government were more supportive of them they'd be killing in the name of god just as the muslim extremists/fundamentalists are doing. i have no doubt of this. people like reverend phelps and his ilk are just looking for the chance for a "holy" war.

Fundamentalism is fundamentalism, whether you're talking about the hardline Wahhabis of Saudi Arabia, the Catholic Inquisitors of the Middle Ages, or even the ideological atheists of the Soviet Union, who didn't merely disbelieve in God but considered belief in God to be a poison needing to be expelled by any means necessary. Many Christians do disavow fundamentalists. Many Muslims disavow extremists within their own faith, but this is not a very dangerous thing to do if they live in the Mideast. Insulting the clergy in Saudi Arabia can get you thrown in jail, whipped, and unable to support your family. Those who defy the extremists anyway are very brave.
