  • Of course you should return the money to him and as soon as possible. He shouldn't have waited so long to cash the check, of course, and I think I would deduct the bounce fee from the money, honestly. You do admit that you 'owe' him the money, though, so you should pay him. If you pay him in cash, I'd also get a receipt.
  • I would do it soon to get it out of the way.
  • If this is a valid debt you owe him, then pay him by cash. i doubt he will ever accept another check from you. By paying him the money you owe him, you eliminate any future problems, concerning this money.
  • Honestly it seems like a dysfunctional relationship. For me, if you're my partner I'm not going to "keep accounts" with you anyway. Everything I send your way would be yours to keep. However, if that is the kind of relationship that exists between you then I'd pay him in cash and not borrow anything else from him.
  • Personally, I would return the money, whether he still wants it back or not. Better not to have anything against you for the future...
