  • Makes plans to do things differently when you get to college. Some suggestions: 1) Join a group right away that does things you are interested in. A club, or drama, or band, or debate will have attendees of interest - and they all have friends of interest. 2) Sit at a different lunch/dinner table as often as you can. Eating with the same group of people gets you into a rut. Mixed-gender tables are your best bet. Use the "I'm new here, anyone mind if I sit down" logic. 3) Above all, try not to be afraid of getting rejected and having your feelings hurt. You never get a "yes!" if you never ask. Sometimes people have to make a lot of requests at first, but it becomes easier - especially after you get your first "yes!" :o)
