Do you get respect through fear or reputation?

I don't think you can respect anyone that uses fear or intimidation as a tactic to gain it. They may fear you enough to treat you with a delicate touch, but they certainly don't respect you. Reputation, on the other hand...that's something that you earn. You can't really earn fear...you can force fear on people. Rep, you can't.

I totally agree. If anyone should get respect through fear, it would have to be no more than intimidation or a scare tactic. Reputation? Well, it all depends on how good or bad a reputation is, but respect should be earned when given. You give credit where credit is due, so when life gives you lemons, give them lemonade!
