In my religion, we define blaspheme against the Holy Ghost as being when someone knows the truth of Jesus' divinity and still denies it. This is not the same as having faith and then losing it. It is having a sure knowledge of just who He is and still preaching against Him. It has likened to standing outside on a cloudless day at high noon and denying the existence of the Sun.

You can ask all the questions you like. In fact, seeking the truth in faith is a good thing. Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is more about rejecting Christ's Work of Salvation after you have understood the truth of it.

to blaspheme against the holy spirit is to sin against Jehovah God's holy spirit. this happens especially after someone has accurate knowledge of bible truths and doctrines and decides to not respect them. hebrews 6:4-6 says: "for it is impossible as regards those who have once for all been enlightened, and who have tasted the heavenly free gift, and who have become partakers of holy spirit, and who have tasted the fine word of God and powers of the coming system of things, but who have fallen away, to revive them again to repentance, because they impale the son of God afresh for themselves and expose him to public shame." this sin is the unforgiveable sin for which there is no forgiveness. keep in mind it is not talking about someone who is sinning, this individual knows fully well what he is doing. someone who repeatedly continues in a wrong course even after gaining full knowledge of what the bible says and doesn't correct his/her life is sinning against the holy spirit.

Taking John 3:16 out of context are words against the Holy Sprit, but I don't know if it constitues blasphemy. Let me explain: John 3:16 is about the Spirit and light of God, and not blood for sin. So this kind of misrepresentaion is not good... since Jesus was putting the attention on the Holy Spirit, not the crucifixion. If you wish to be better informed about the Holy Spirit and the light of God, this is a good resource: http://gospelenigma.com That free ebook sorts out many things from the Original Gospel that have been misrepresnted. (misrepresentation is not a good thing)

Good job Glenn, Here's the Doctrine I have researched. Enjoy! John DOCTRINE OF THE UNPARDONABLE SIN A. This is the one sin Jesus Christ could not and did not die for on the cross, Jn 3:18, 36. This sin is the rejection of Christ and His work on the cross. B. This sin is related to the convicting ministry of the Holy Spirit, Gen 6:3; Jn 16:7-11; Heb 10:29. C. Rejection of Christ is called "sin," Jn 16:9. D. Synonyms for the unpardonable sin. 1. The willful sin, Heb 10:26. 2. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, Mt 12:31. 3. Resistance of the Holy Spirit, Acts 7:51. 4. Insulting the Holy Spirit, Heb 10:29. E. Those who are under the unpardonable sin consider the Gospel foolishness, 1 Cor 1:18, 2:14. F. This sin is characterized by strong delusion, 2 Thes 2:11-12. G. This sin has its own reversionism, 2 Pet 2:19-22.

I believe you are asking about the "unforgivable sin"? Let me quote Billy Graham: __"Many Christians have heard that there is an unpardonable sin and live in dread that something grave they have done before or after conversion might be that sin. __"Their fears are unfounded. While there is an unforgivable sin, it is not one that a true believer in Jesus Christ can commit. __"The one sin which God cannot forgive is mentioned in Mark 3:28-30 and Matthew 12:31-32. Jesus had been performing miracles, including driving demons out of people by the power of the Holy Spirit. Instead of recognizing the source of Jesus' power and accepting Him as God's Son, the religious leaders accused Him of being possessed by the devil and driving demons out in the power of the devil. __"Jesus responded by saying, "I tell you the truth, all the sins and blasphemies of men will be forgiven them. But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin." __"The sin of the religious leaders, blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, was a refusal to accept the witness of the Holy Spirit to who Jesus was and what He had come to do, and then submit their lives to Him. Jesus said concerning the Holy Spirit, "When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment" (John 16:8). They chose rather to reject the Spirit's witness to their sin and to Jesus, and accused Him of being demon possessed! __"The point for us is that if we have received Jesus as our Savior and Lord, we have not blasphemed the Holy Spirit; we have accepted His witness. One study Bible explains it as follows: "To commit this sin one must consciously, persistently, deliberately, and maliciously reject the testimony of the Spirit to the deity and saving power of the Lord Jesus." If a person keeps doing that until death, there is no hope of forgiveness and eternal life in heaven. __"Once again, the unpardonable sin is not some particularly grievous sin committed by a Christian before or after accepting Christ, nor is it thinking or saying something terrible about the Holy Spirit. Rather, it is deliberately resisting the Holy Spirit's witness and invitation to turn to Jesus until death ends all opportunity. __"In order to experience God's peace, we must come to Him, trusting His promises. Isaiah 1:18 says, "Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow." In 1 John 1:9 we read: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." __"Jesus Himself assures us, "Whoever comes to me I will never drive away" (John 6:37). Our God is a compassionate and merciful God. He desires that no one should be lost, but that all should come to salvation through repentance and personal faith in Jesus as Savior and Lord (2 Peter 3:9; Acts 2:21)." As far as the suffering thing, yes I think it is a valid question for anyone to ask, and I think many if not most do at some point in their lives. I am writing something that answers that, I will paste the link to it here probably tomorrow, when I am finished. God's love, peace and joy, Amy

The Holy Ghost testifies to us of the truths of the Gospel and the divinity and mission of Jesus Christ. Initially, this gives us faith. As we become ready to receive it we can reach a point where the Holy Ghost can give us Knowledge of this. This Knowledge is a thing different in kind, not just degree, from faith. Very few of us reach that point in mortal life. Peter did. He Knew with the Knowledge that goes beyond faith that Jesus was the Christ because the Knowledge was given him through the Holy Ghost. Judas also Knew, and knowing betrayed Christ. It was the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost (Holy Spirit) implicit in the betrayal, not the betrayal itself that condemned him. Ask all the questions you like. You are seeking knowledge, not denying a sure witness. Personally I think God must be rather disappointed in those of us who will not ask questions about things we do not understand. Makes us look uninterested.

You are referring to the only unforgivable sin. The Bible gives us help in understanding what that is. The Bible explains that there is only one sin that is not forgive, unbelief. Unbelief disqualifies a person from the universal forgiven won by Jesus Christ. The sin (blaspheming) against the Holy Spirit is rejection of the Holy Spirit (called faith creator) which is unbelief. So the answer to your question is this: A person blasphemes the Holy Spirit when they reject him and continue to live in unbelief.

"I don't disrespect any religion and I'm not a Bigot, I've learned a lot, through real life issues, incidents and scenerios that I've been through!! All along I've come to realize that we all choose our own destiny, we all solely pave our own lives, as well as our own suffering and I learned it all the hard way, Thank God I am where I'm at, for now, I'm grateful, I live a healthier life now, compared to three years ago!! But along with it all, my hope in Jesus Christ is completely lost, I've lost total faith in him because of all the obstacles I've been through in my past, I've suffered a lot for a while and Jesus never responded, he never will!!That's why I only believe in GOD, not Jesus!! God is that certain Entity which is truly what created us and adores us!!!Not Jesus, he was more like a Cult leader and a Preacher, oh, and a Magician, also!!Maybe like Criss Angel!!!"
