  • Such as?
  • if they aren't proud of their religion, they shouldn't be practicing it.
  • As Jesus said Jesus said to them: “If YOU were blind, YOU would have no sin. But now YOU say, ‘We see.’ YOUR sin remains.” John 9:41 I have learned in life to watch out for the people who claim that they can see on their own. They lack humility and are usually as it turns out – the most blind.
  • The unwisdom of blind belief is probably closely related to the value that western cultures place on science and 'measuring'. Thus, anything that cannot be measured or rationalised is seen as a bit silly. And religion or 'faith' is usually associated with 'feeling' rather than fact. When you have a metaphysical knowledge of something, you don't need to show it off, because you know that it just 'is', through your own experience. Pride about religion is, in my opinion, a dangerous thing. I'd rather humility any day!
  • It probably has more to do with being proud to be a member of social or family group than of being proud to be irrational.
  • There is factual basis if you're willing to study and research that what it says is true. Take the flood for instance. Most major religions have the flood as part of their history story line. Why not research just this in and of itself and see what you come with.
