  • When I was in Elementary School you ate what Mother packed you and you were grateful, there was no cafeteria and you ate at your desk.
  • No, when I went to school, we all ate pretty much the same sort of thing. We were not well off, in an area of Government housing and first home buyers. We ate what we got. Once a week, there might be a chance to order from the local shop, if you could afford it. We ate in class before going out into the playground. By the time high school came around, food was not an issue.
  • I always felt that the teasing was directed at certain kids, more than at what they ate. The only food that stands out as being tease worthy was egg sandwiches. I can remember some kids being teased for that. I ate the school lunches.
  • Just the opposite. They always wanted what I had. I thought what I ate was weird or ordinary but I guess it was different than other people. I had slices of roast beef or chicken on sourdough bread and real mayo, sometimes homemade. Cake and cookies I made with my mom.
  • once i had hummus [chickpea spread] and everyone made fun of me saying it looked gross.
  • On pizza fridays, I loved putting chocolate milk on my pizza. I wasn't teased, I just creeped people out.
