Wow. That's not biased at all. McCain does not advocate unsafe nuclear power. He advocates safe nuclear power. The same nuclear power that powers the socialist nations of Europe.
-
Nuclear power IS safe. The only people that argue differently are those that have no clue about it.
-
McCain is not the first to break down the solar energy plan that Carter established. Reagan was the president that had the solar panels removed from the White House when he took office. As to the safety of nuc power, The US and the Russians are the only ones to have had problems. If our countries egos would allow us to learn from others, it would be fine.
-
I think you might be inserting "unsafe" there...
-
Can you think of a more biased and ignorant way to phrase the question? I don't think I can. While I think solar energy is pretty darn cool, until they figure out a better way to do it than what they have, it's really very impractical to produce the large amounts of solar energy necessary. Most parts of the world neither wind nor solar energy is a reliable source of power. Nuclear power, however is VERY safe (providing you aren't careless with it) and works regardless of location, climate, etc. As to why McCain voted that way... eh, he's not really on ANY reservation when it comes to voting for or against things, so it's hard to say. I suspect he does not oppose fully renewable "clean" energy, but does not think that solar energy is it, and understands that nuclear power IS safe.
-
you obviously know nothing about nuclear physics which means you should not be commenting about how safe nuclear power is.
-
Solar energy isn't ever going to be a major source of energy. On the other hand, Nuclear Power Plants that are now very safe can replace all our coal and oil fueled energy plants and help cut down on CO2, a major greenhouse gas, and lessen our oil dependency. Nuclear Energy is by far one of the cleanest and effective ways to go. Just look at Europe and Japan.
-
i think both can be a good source of energy, and in my opinion both would be better than coal, oil or gas power plants for obvious reasons. the more we use nuclear energy the safer we can make it.
-
Because we are running out of coal to power our big screen HD TV's. Nuke power if managed properly works great. Hopefully they will build several more power plants in the very near future.
-
Because he's sharing his bed with several corporate CEOs, in a matter of speaking. Besides, more nuclear dependance legitimises whatever reports may come out of about the US increasing its nuclear weapons stockpile.
-
McCain is of the "old gaurd". He will never do anything progressive......he will always protect the status quo! He and the rest of the right wing "dinosaur's" are on their last legs, and to this I say-"don't let the door hit your ass on the way out"!
-
Though solar energy is a sound concept U.S. nuclear powerplants are extremely safe.
-
Because he's an old fool.
-
I don't think research should be stopped in regards to solar. However I disagree with you on the overall safety of nuclear power. Europe is a big nuclear power user as well as Japan. There has been nothing unsafe about there use. If you think generating nuclear energy is unsafe you may want to consider the fact that it is a lot more friendly to the environment than coal fired generation plants. Coal accounts for over 200 million tons of pollutants a year, some of which is radioactive, and also adds a lot of carbon to the atmosphere hastening a global change in weather. Nuclear power plants on the other hand are just local, while the crap coal fired plants spit out is spread throughout our atmosphere.
