Yes, at my home we have an oil boiler and a wood burner. So it is possible. However, it can be quite a complicated procedure and requires extra safety features. For example you must not ever allow both sources to be on at the same time, or the water in the pipes can boil and you quite literally risk explosion. So you must seek professional advice. When we built our extension on our house my father did all the plumbing for the bathrooms, sinks etc but when it came to the heating he paid someone to come and design something that would work and be safe.
