  • Potential employers probably won't ever find out about your former employment unless you tell them where you worked. However, it may hamper your job search if you have no employment history. My suggestion is to put the job on your applications. Under reason for leaving, just put "Will Explain In Interview", then tell the person interviewing you the reasons behind why you were let go. Use the softer terms of "dismissed", or "let go" rather than "fired", and explain in non-judgmental terms. Instead of saying, "The boss was a jerk and fired me", say, "My employer and I didn't see eye to eye on some key issues". Or, instead of saying, "They fired me because I was too slow", say, "They made a decision to replace me with someone who had more experience."
  • Put it on there, because it shows you have previous experience. Employers like to know the truth. And because it was a first job, and probably a casual one at that, they understand these things are short term. I just wouldn't mention that you got fired is all. If they ask in the interview, do tell the truth, but say something like you got laid off, because it sounds better than "I got fired because blah blah".
