no, but then I don't think it ever has happened.
-
It happens constantly :) So, no. I'm used to it.
-
yes people always say it wrong im getin use to it thou.
-
yes, because a lot of people that will call me KATHLEEN when there is no TH in my name - Kayleen. It annoys me because they don't take two seconds to look at the name on the paper!
-
Not really, after 29 years I'm pretty used to it. Just makes it all the more impressive when someone gets it right on the first try.
-
it depends where I'm at
-
it doesnt make me mad when someone mispronounces my name.. what really gets to me is when people who either call me or listen to me on the phone.... think i'm a girl... I ordered pizza... and when i went to pick it up, they said your wife called.... but i told them it was me.... sigh... And people are always saying ok mam, or something like that on the phone and it sucks....

my last name isn't exacally the easiest to pronounce. so no. i dont.
-
My surname is often mispronounced. It doesn't get me upset at all.
-
Yes I do. I have the easiest name ever (the same name as a certain pornstar) and they still pronounce Jameson as Jam-er-sten or Jam-en-son... Its really annoying!
-
My name is pretty simple, but my husband gets upset that sometimes people add an "s" to the end of our surname.
-
Well, my name's Kirsty, but I lived in Greece for a long time, where they can't pronounce the 'i' sound. It comes out as Keersty. I ended up being called Kristi by friends and teachers/old people would call me Christina. I would sometimes even get Krisi or Christa. So... Whatever!!

My last name shares a spelling with a famous last name, but not the pronunciation. I personally don't give a shit, unless the person in question starts joking about possible blood ties. I'll usually correct someone the first time only because they usually *ask* the first time, but beyond that i don't care. My father doesn't flip out, per se, but he's a little bit nationalistic about it, i think. He was once greeted by the mispronunciation when he called a credit card company, and he asked that they put it in the notes that his name is pronounced THIS way, and that the account should be flagged stolen if anyone calls up claiming to be him pronouncing it THAT way. I have a fairly common first name and sometimes people insist on pronouncing it oddly. that I'll correct because it's kindof jarring to have someone attempting to catch your attention with something that isn't registering in my brain as them calling to me.

I've never met anyone who can't pronounce Allison correctly. I don't like it when people take it upon themselves to shorten my name to Allie, though. Very few people can do that and get away with it.
-
If it's done deliberately and by someone trying to make fun of me, it would hurt me and I might be angry for a short time. But most people just can't help it or they just try to pronounce it the American way and not like I say it. SO that's fine with me. As to my maiden name, well, nobody could pronounce it who wasn't French so everyone bye for that name:-)
-
Nope. There was only person who ever mispronounced it. There was this guy named Derek who used to call me Brine instead of Brian but I thought it was funny. It just gave me more material with which to do impressions of him. :D There was this other guy named Ross. So Derek says to him, "Hey Rass- you wanna beer?" So Ross says, "No thanks and my name is Ross, not Rass".

I get this most of the time while talking to clients on the phone. They actually don't mispronounce it, they get it completely wrong. Most of the time I let it go. Sometimes they say "what was your name again?" and I tell them. I have a unisex name, and it is often thought to be a nickname as well. I'm always asked "so, what's your REAL name" or "what's that short for?" If I only had a dollar for every time I hear that...
-
i correct them. It's "wear um" not "wear ham".
-
I find it amusing. My maiden name wsa Tongue (as in the thing in your mouth), but I got Tong (as in kitchen tongs) Ting (as in I dont know what), and my favorite was Tongway. I do get slightly mad when I send an e-mail, which has my name right there, and people spell it wrong when they reply

Yess because it's not like my name is that uncommon or difficult my name is tara and just because a small amount of people pronounce it TAR-uh doesn't mean it's right...you wouldn't call someone named sara SAR-uh you call them SAIR-uh
