    Typically a vasectomy for the males in much less risky and easier than tubal ligation or hysterectomies in females.

    It's less invasive for the man to be sterilized. They do the vasectomy as an outpaitent surgury (sometimes in the specialists' office) whereas a woman has to be cut across the midsection and it takes several months (weeks at least) to heal. It's also alot easier to reverse a vasectomy (vasovasectomy) than it is to reverse getting your tubes tied.

    probably not a matter of "best" but male sterilization used to be easier than female--may not be the case anymore with the less invasive surgery available to women.
