Two words: Pascal's Wager. Just make sure you pick the god with the nastiest consequences for non-belief. I'm hedging my bets with the Christian God. Unless someone knows a fate worse than an eternity of fire and brimstone, in which case I'll happily convert.

Because that belief suits your needs. If you have no need to so believe, then the only reason you should believe in any or a particular God is because YOUR logic tells you such a God is probable. From my chosen path i stray, Yet my God ne'er turns away; For i have learned -- and understand, That where God is -- is where i am!

You only ought to believe if that is what you want. If it benefits you then great if it doesn't that's fine too. I can say that I benefit greatly from my spirituality but that doesn't mean that the same is true for you.
