In a lot of Royal families this would be the case and his brother would be the next in line for the throne. However in the absence of a son, the eldest daughter will take the throne. (However this is only if there are no sons) This is how Queen Elizabeth II became queen. Her Uncle King Edward (some number) abdicated in scandel and was exiled. Her dad I belive he was King George (some number) took the throne and died in the 50's of cancer. Since her dad only had daughters and she was the eldest she became HRM Queen Elizabeth the second.

Prince Charles' daughters would be next in line to the throne after him. Andrew would then be next in line to the throne after them until such a time as they had children.

As I understand it.. Charles's girls would still take the throne as Queens. But I'm not sure that any of Charles's children are in the top 10 for taking over power.

actually, i think that prince charles son william would succeed him as first born. then if he had any children than they would be in line. after everything, prince harry would then be next as the second son of prince charles. if harry did not have any children then if hewere to have any girls the next oldest would be in line. (as i understand it)or if your talking bout charles having only daughters instead of sons, then the eldest would be queen.(provided that when charles is king, that he does not step down or dies of old age) i could be wrong.

The current line of succession is:
    1. HRH Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales (b. 1948)
    2. HRH Prince William of Wales (b. 1982)
    3. HRH Prince Henry of Wales (b. 1984)
    4. HRH Prince Andrew, The Duke of York (b. 1960)
    5. HRH Princess Beatrice of York (b. 1988)
    6. HRH Princess Eugenie of York (b. 1990)
    7. HRH Prince Edward (b. 1964)
    8. James, Viscount Severn (b. 2007)
    9. Lady Louise Windsor (b. 2003)
    10. HRH Princess Anne, Princess Royal (b. 1950)
As you cans see, Prince Andrew's daughters take precedence over Queen Elizabeth's third son Edward and virtually everyone takes precedence over Princess Anne, thank Heavens.
