    I NEED PIE!

    main reason is they introduced hard disks to late, IBM jumped on the bandwagon early and installed the then massive 2MB hard disks in their PCs commodore believed no one would ever use an entire 2MB so they carried on with floppy drives. by the time they realized there mistake they were dead in the water and all PCs from then on are based on those original IBMs
