What makes some people open minded and some closed minded?

I think it has a lot to do with those that surround them and had influence in their life.

Big corporations (and the government) controlling everything around us with evil agendas. My 2 cents.

I can't be so sure with my answer. But I don't think it's an influence from entourage and society. As the matter of fact, I have not known any people who are open minded and live a liberal way, creative and idealistic. I am seriously open but my family and other people around here are not. Perhaps this is due to own personality?

A lot of it is arrogance. They see everything as black and white, and refuse to accept any other opinions. Plus, there are cultural reasons, and upbringing. Like fundamentalist religion can cause a real close minded look on religion.
