  • To be honest, I really don't care.. it's his private life, we should let him screw it up they way he wants to, instead of judging his abilities as a politician based on this incident. Btw, I'm socialist, but I still don't care about his private life, unless he's done something illegal
  • Looks like a combination to me. To begin with, there was no direct accusation in the NY Times article that McCain had "an affair", only that he had a close personal relationship. The implications could be that a) he and an affair and b) he would be susceptible to influence by her if he became pres. But for crying out loud, does anybody think any president gets elected without incurring obligatoins to lobbyists and other power brokers? Whether it's Clinton, Obama or McCain, whoever is president will be dispensing favors of some kind to those who supported him/her. Look at the people who get to sleep in the whitehouse, who get to have lunch with the pres, who go for a ride in Air Force 1. So if McCain actually had an affair, so what?
  • In the grand scheme of campaign finance and lobbyists, this is a drop in the bucket. It sounds fairly benign compared to what most politicians and lobbyist get up to. Lobbysist and politicians professional paths cross constantly. Campaigns are very expensive and the money has to come from somewhere. I believe him that he did not have an affair. Did he do any "favors" for campaign funds? Nothing beyond accepted norms. Media is blowing it out of proportion, but it is something to be watchful and mindful of.
  • I really don't know, but personally, I couldn't care less..... :(
