The basic belief of Scientology is that if you spend enough money on auditing, courses, e-meters, and related paraphernalia, you can become an all-powerful being who is free to ignore the laws of nature. Of course, they're clever enough not to actually SAY it this way in the marketing literature.

The basic belief of Scientology is that aliens are causing you problems and you need to give the 'church' tens of thousands of dollars to get rid of them. Scientologists claim that it's about reaching a higher spiritual level, when in fact it's all about money. Obviously, I am not a Scientologist.
