Respect your friend's wishes and don't nag her! If she wants to be a full time mom, why shouldn't she be? It's a full time job! If that's what makes her happy in life, who are you to say that she has "more to offer"? It isn't a lesser thing to be a mother! And even if it was, she doesn't owe the world anything. I have an outrageously high I.Q. If I wanted to, I could be a doctor, a lawyer, whatever I desire. What I desire most is to own my own book shop. That's a less important, lesser job by societal standards, but it's what I want most in my life. Do I owe it to the world to be a Doctor? No, I don't. Just like your friend doesn't owe it to anyone to be more than a mother! Being a mother is a worthy pursuit! My suggestion is you respect your friend more, and allow her to lead her own life!

I agree with what someone else said that being a mother isn't a bad thing to want for in life, but unlike being a doctor or having a bookstore or whatever your life's ambition is, getting married and starting a family involves people other than yourself and just because you desperately want kids doesn't mean you should get hitched to the first person who seems remotely interested. I think you should advise her that she is young and she shouldn't rush into anything and just to do something she enjoys for now, or work and save up money for when she does have a family.

I agree with those that have said that "just being a mom" is a really tough job, and a very noble vocation. Since she is not doing that yet, can you talk to her about what her plans for the present are? Since it does take 2 people to get married, and you don't necessarily get pregnant just because you want to, she might want to prepare something to do in the mean time. If she loves children so much, maybe you could recommend that she study early childhood education, or get a job in a day care or preschool. That way, she is getting some background information which may help her with her future plans of being a great mom, but she is continuing her education and/or earning an income in the mean time.

At least she waited till she graduated high school. Everyone has different goals and dreams in life, maybe she feels that college isn't for her. Don't try to push her to do something she doesn't want instead just support her, that's what a good friend should always do. You never know, she might change her mind in the near future.

Everyone has their own path to follow. You can't change her ambitions or beliefs. As long as she has an income this can not be such a horrible thing. You should support her and make sure she doesn't just go for any ass hole who will get her pregnant. Most 20 year old men are only interested in sex and also may not stay if she gets pregnant.
