Why were the questions "What's the difference between a Democrat and a Republican?" and What's the difference between a democratic government and a republic combined? Those ?s are completely different.

I have to say I agree. Perhaps if the first question had mentioned the word "party" it would have been better but even so I think it is fairly obvious. To ask what defines the two types of governemnt and then ask what are the qualities that make up party divions is perfectly valid in my opinion.

I think the ambitious moderator will flag something like that and the AB staff member won't really pay attention and accepts the moderator's take on it...those examples are entirely different..but in flagging, the moderator gets more points..so who the heck cares whether the flag was justified! It's points and only points that matter to some..the consequence is that many valid questions die! :(
