If you have a casette player in your rig try using the casette XM setup. It gives much better connection for XM radio. The FM radio connection depends on getting a completely unused frequency and that is very iffy when driving cross country as you start in an area with an unused fm freq and then move to an area where it is in use or too close to another. My question is which antenna is giving you problems... Is it the FM transmitter antenna or is it the XM antenna. If it is the XM antenna is probubly that the coax is a small wire and not really designed to be moves or pinched which will cause it to break
