I was just diagnosed with mononucleosis. The doc basically said "Go home and wait it out", but I'm in intense pain...It hurts in my throat, in my ears, and in my glands beneath my jaws...Painkillers don't seem to help much. Is there anything I can do?

i am 47 and drive for approx.2 1/2 hrs 5 days a wk. my knee/legs pain at bedtime.is there any home remedy to ease the pain. pl advice.
