  • It probably depends on the state but she should be able to get a gun permit and buy firearms. Also, I know that at least in the state of Pennsylvania, you are not required to have a gun permit to buy black powder firearms, so convicted felons can purchase them.
  • Your wife's rights are not being denied, she is choosing not to exercise them. Your wife has the choice to live with a felon, and therefore be required to forego her right to bear arms, or, put the felon in jeorpardy of a violation by owning a firearm. She also has the choice to not live without a felon, and bear arms.
  • I think she should be allowed to own a gun... I think the laws should only deny convicted felons of GUN CRIMES from owning guns... That's my opinion on the subject...
  • My ex was a convicted felon and could not own a handgun but that did not stop me from owning a Ruger. I don't believe there is a law in my state that says you can't own a handgun if you live in the same house with a convicted felon.
  • i know this is hard because im the same has ur wife the laws arent fair but us women that stand behind u all and love u dearly it dont matter to us about any of that at all
  • Your wife has the right to own a gun, but it would be in your best interest if she waived that right. If a gun is found in your house, she will not get arrested, but you will.
  • Better check the rules that will violate your probation. Most states will not allow a convicted felon to be in the same household with a weapon. Its not worth it.
  • there is a thing called the catherine cleaver act that states a spouse of a convicted felon can own a firearm but I can't find any info on it does anyone know of such a thing
  • She has the right to possess a firearm but you do not, so if you share a home than you would have to talk to your p.o. to see if she is able to keep the gun in the house maybe under lock which you wouldnt have access to, but like I said that would be up to your p.o. and if you dont have a p.o. I'd advise you to have her keep the gun at another location, because a felon in possesion of a fire arm is punishable to 5 yrs in prison and sometimes more depending on the state.
  • Yes, she should be able to purchase one. There is not a question on the form when you go to purchase one that says are you married to a felon?
  • under fed law, she can possess or purchase a firearm, she just cant allow you access to it, because, yep you guesses, you go to jail if she does.
  • If you have a gun in your home, you are deemed to have constructive possession of the gun. You could easily be charged with unlawful possession of a firearm. It's about possession, not ownership; if the cops came to your home, you would get charged.
