do you think i should go to jail. im an illegal immigrant here from england, i entered legaly married my wife and exepted her 3 children from a previouse marraige and take care of them as well as the child we have togeter while my wife works, i would work but until i have a green card that would be breaking the law even more so im a stay at home dad who loves my chldren and wife. i could get a green card but the wole process is so expensive and not being able to work makes raising the cash even more difficult. if i were arrested or deported it would not only mean my children would lose there father it would also mean they would lose there home and end up on benfits which taxpayers pay because without me to stay home and take care of the kids my wife couldnt work. so from my point of view no i dont think they should go to jail or be deported, i suppose each situation is different though and there are those that do deserve to be deported but there are alot more people in the country that have good reason to be here than people think. the whole arguement that illegal immigrants are a drain on US taxpayers is wrong in my case, my family would be a drain on taxpayers were i not here, and no taxpayers money is used to support me, nor do i take away jobs that us citizens could be doing

Immedietly deported, with a "Two strikes" for jail time. They are breaking the law. The excuse that there are too many to deport is ridiculous. There are alot of child molesters also, do we stop looking for and punishing them just because of their numbers, NO!!

I think illegal immigrants for the most part shouldn't be deported but should also have the punishment to go to jail for law infrigment. Immigrants that are delinquent should be deported. We do not need any thugs in our country. If an immigrant is willing to work, earn and become a resident/citizen, then I welcome them. Immigrants aren't only hispanic. They're not only Mexicans but Polish, scottish, British, and from other nations. Keep that in mind.

I'm a legal immigrant from Canada, and as much a pain in the ass as my mother and I went through to be here (still a pain in the ass) I hate hearing excuses. We were poor as hell when we first arrived, but we still managed to take all the proper courses of action to do things the right way. If it's worth it to you to live here, then do it legally, the end.

Don't be a fool. Tell me how you would manage it? Jails are already full, no national budget possibility for it, and there are TWELVE MILLION OF THEM. Come up with just ONE viable solution and I'll agree.

Illegal immigrants often incite racial hatred, force honest taxpayers to pay for them to reside here, raise our house prices and make life harder in general for current and future generations. They do not have a right to be here. Britain's immigration laws are abysmal. We're just letting in anyone who feels like living here. In addition, our government are paying immigrants to do the work we taxpayers pay our own citizens not to do.

Hey state and federal prisons GIVE felons, murderers, rapists,burglars,gang members high school diplomas, college degres,shelter,food,clothing at tax payers expense. While their families are on welfare. We pay to keep people in prison, pay to support their families. For what?????? Ever heard the term repeat ofenders? Ok, this is a complete fantasy. I think that current illegals should be given a chance to work towards their legal status. Of course that would require classes to be available for them. That would take massive reform of American immigration procedures. If they refuse, out they go... deported. If they are jailed they are a drain on the American system. I believe that this new policy should be made loudly and publically and that any new illegals coming into the country should be history. -------------- I am torn on this issue considering the current system. I think about upturned lives but I also think about how much damage the illegal immigrant population does to this nation. My father came here the hard way and he did it correctly, however, I have heard that it was easier in '69 than it is now.

If possible, yes. If not, secure borders, prosecute employers of illegals, dry up jobs & resources, require landlords to ask for legal residency docs, places to live, prevent public assistance, & access to health facilities (except life/death), etc.

Ugh....I figured this would come up again one way or the other. It's like this: My husband is here illegally. He has been here for 13 years. We have been together and married for 9 of those years. We are trying extremely hard to get through the approval process, but in the meantime YES...he's still illegal. We married on November 16, 2001. We knew that if he married me we would have no problem with him being illegal because he wouldn't be. He's married to a US citizen. Unfortunately, we married about 3 weeks too late. 9-11-01 happened and the buildings fell. By the time we were married the offer to be instantly legal was taken off the table. We had missed it by only 3 weeks. It wasn't our fault. We have done everything possible up to this point to do things the right way even though we've caused no problems for anyone. What's left of the time we have to wait? Why, we still have about another year and a half to go! Sit and wait. Sit and wait. Sit and wait. He can buy a house. He can buy a car. But even though he is married to a US citizen he can no longer be legal. His baby daughter is legal but he isn't. Now we have to gather all the medical documented "evidence" that I have brain damage in three separate areas of my brain (thank you, MOM), and bi-polar disorder and depression to boot. We have to prove his leaving would be a hardship on the family - DUH! We live in fear every day that something will go wrong and he will be deported. He's never had a ticket. He's never had a criminal record....not even a misdemeanor. The man has done nothing wrong except contribute to the American economy and pay his damn taxes. This man does not need to be deported. All he has done is mind his own business, work at his own business, and support his family.

Without turning the country into what essentially would be a police state, I see no benefit to jailing them. And deporting does not seem to work either. If we want to stem the tide, we should be working harder than we already are at helping the countries who send us the most illegals to boost their economy and rights issues so there is no incentive to come here.

Sure....right after we publicly 'perp walk', try and send to jail the employers who EMPLOY illegal aliens. Let's face it, the Powers That Be in the US use illegal immigration as a political issue, but don't do anything about it because they (or their political contributors) LIKE having a source of cheap labor to drive down wages.

yes they should be deproted immeadiatly not imprisoned and also be tagged with RF ID chips to identify them should they ever try to come over again. The chips will be used to deny them legal access for life because they decided to break the law of the US. We must also reform amendment 14 that they use to come over and squirt out a child trying to stay here. The law/ammendment should state birth on american soil does not constitute automatic citizenship in any way unless you are already a natural/citizen of the US. As soon as mother and baby are well enough to travel they will be billed for any fees accumilated and both deported to country of origen with rf id tags as aformentioned. We also need to go back and find any person that was squirted out like this in the past and send them packing. If they can not prove they/or thier parents came over any border through legal channels. Yes this country is better then most but why is that? It is because we have made it that way so instead of running from your countries problems do something about it like our forefathers did. We also need to not let these people be elligable for any assitance of any kind(other then a ride back to where they came from at thier expense and a RF ID tag free of charge)and close down any group that offers aid to these kinds of people. Also make it a class A felony to employ/assist any non-citizen with out proper legal documention with penalties that include siezure of all assests and a min mandentory 5-10 years in the pen. In a nut shell a 0 tolerance policy needs to be made regaurding illegal immigrants (all of them not just mexicans). Let them know our country isnt a golden ticket to a free ride or ticket to anything but a quick deportation unless they seek citizenship though a valid INS/what ever they call it now office and are then granted it!!! There is no argument for this it is cut and dry, flamming only shows your complacency or your illegal status and or maybe your ignorance. If you like illegals so much you can denounce your citizenship at anytime (if you even are a citizen) and go back with one of them to where ever they are going to. Remember if your not part of the solution your also a problem end of story.
