I don't think it's that people dispise others who smoke marijuana, it's just that they're frustrated and care! I just feel like it's a death sentence when someone smokes! Really, I don't care if you smoke because it's your choice, but it's not your family and friend's choice to see you suffer the consequences!

Because they are judging something they do not approve of and something they don't understand.It is less harmful than cigarettes and liquor which are socially accepted.Pot has been around for thousands of years and has been used socially and was accepted.

Are you aware that the campaign against it including the ridiculously lame movie REEFER MADNESS was a racist intent to try to thwart illegal Mexican immigration into the U.S.? Worked out just "super" didn't it? The actors in the movie seem more strung out on PCP or heroine than anything weed ever did t to anyone. Most first time user rarely even catch a buzz and get a slight touch of nausea at worst.

I'll probably be downrated, but I thought I'd answer. I don't particularly have a problem with people who wish to smoke marijuana. People from all walks of life have smoked marijuana; from the "intelligent" people to the "stupid" people, from the upper class to the lower class, from senior citizens to adolescents. It's a very popular activity, despite the fact that it is illegal in many areas. I can certainly understand the appeal of marijuana, and drugs in general. They allow an escape, a way to relieve tension from everyday life. Considering that the effects of marijuana are not as harsh as other drugs, it definitely seems like a harmless way to have fun. But, in the long run, is it truly an effective way to have fun? In my country, possessing or using marijuana is a crime with extreme repercussions. Suddenly, this little bag full of a plant could cost you thousands of dollars, or even jail time. Whether or not you agree with the laws, is it really worth sticking your neck out like that? I also personally think it's a waste. I've seen people go through very large amounts of weed on their normal "occasional" usage. But, how much joy can one evening of taking marijuana bring? I personally think there are much better things that you could be doing with your money and your time. I don't want to give the impressions that I think it is "lowbrow," or something like that, but I really cannot see the appeal of sitting around in a room getting high as opposed to going out for the evening, or meeting up with friends, or something like that. And weed is definitely not a cheap habit. I'd rather put my own money into something that's going to bring me happiness over the long term. I also personally can't stand the smoke, but I'm also that way with cigarettes as well. It all gives me a headache. But, in the end, people will do whatever they want to do, and whatever makes them happy. For my reasons, I won't be touching marijuana any time soon, but to each their own. I definitely won't ever think of people who smoke pot as "stupid," but I will always wonder why they enjoy their lifestyle. I'm sure there are many who would question why I enjoy mine.

I dont like people who can't handle the stresses of life and rely on drugs to make it through. So I don't respect potheads, but they're not worth despising.

I've nothing against someone who smokes pot in moderation. I would rather be around someone stoned than drunk any day. I used to smoke pot years ago. I have friends that still smoke it going on over 40 yrs.

i think everybody in the world has the potenual to be brilliant and lovely no matter what substance they use. look out the window and gaze at the sunny day or rain or whatever look, enjoy. dont judge

'Cause these people just are. I don't really care if people smoke pot, but I do care when a family member does. I also don't want my boyfriend to. One of my closest friends uses pot A LOT and he's one of the most intelligent people I know. I love talking to him. He always has something interesting to say and he's one of those guys who actually knows how to have a meaningful conversation on MSN. He's great. :]
