For those of you that believe in reincarnation, do you think the progression of lives is linear in time, or can someone die in 2008 and have their next life begin in the 1800s?

Wow...that is something I've never thought of. I do believe in reincarnation, but have never heard anyone talk about your question. My first thought answer would be considering scientists are getting closer to discovering that time is not linear, so it seems probable that reincarnation would not be linear either. Im no scientist...just a thinker. LOL Great Question!!!!

Excellent question Audiotron. Points for you! I've thought about that before, but personally I believe the progression of our lives is linear in time. Physical life only happens on earth, while we're "alive", and life on physical earth is governed by the laws of physics, of which time is a component. Time always moves forward here on earth, and as our souls come back to earth they again exist in "time".

i do believe in reincarnation because it makes sense in a positive way. i believe in God as a Force that caused everything to come into existence. i further believe that the souls or entities that allow us to exist do so using the parameters of reincarnation. i don't think that reincarnation is subject to time constraints, past - present - or future. i think the entities choose which physical being to inhabit (in any time period) based upon the growth needs of that particular entity. i choose i chose to be born, – to live or die, Even the sex, that would be i; i chose the race, from which to appear, Also my wealth, my health and my fear. i chose my trials and stumbling blocks, And the legs i would use, in all of those walks; i chose my sadness, my joy and my love, i chose to serve and not be above. i chose this life – with all of its dues, And with each dawn, again i choose; The experiences for me that wait ahead, To be alive, or be claimed dead. And of the future lives i've yet, It is my choice that i begat; All the things, however pleasin', That shall befall me in those seasons.

I have often pondered on this and I think it is linear. People only have a certain amount of time to learn the lessons they need to learn. Otherwise what would be the point of God coming back for us?? Even though your soul is designated male or female like people are, you can come back in the opposite sex once in a while if the need calls for it. But time I think is linear.
