Why do so many people seem to think it is their responsibility to solve the problems of their friends? Have you ever known someone who took it way too far? What happened as a result?

It tends to be a male thing, I've found. Most men, when you talk to them, think you are telling them things so they can fix them. It's like they can only hear a problem and assume you want them to do something about it. That is one thing I love about my husband. He is just a great listener. He can listen and hear me out and he won't attempt to solve anything unless I ask for help or he can really see I'm suffering.

I've know a few folks like that and what happened was they were left holding the bag. The friend would wind them up and watch them go. When things didn't go as planned the friend would distance himself and watch as the protector took the heat.

Yes and I went too far and she was a cutter and ended up cutting herself because I tried to help her when she did not want it.

I feel and do the same. I am successful half of the time. In spite of modernities like space age and computer automation, I still believe that people are reasonable.

Well it's pretty much due to them caring for their friends a great deal.
