Only God knows who gets to heaven

John the Baptist had a purpose when God put him in Elisabeth's womb (he was Jesus cousin), to prepare the way for Christ, and he did, I am sure he will be in the Book of Life, probably one of the 144,000 that will help Christ rule HIS KINGDOM. HE will get them first before HE lets the angels start destruction that God has given HIM the authority to do when the time comes...right now he is probably still asleep in death...

Jesus taught that John is the “messenger” of Jehovah foretold in Malachi 3:1 and is also the prophet Elijah foretold in Malachi 4:5, 6. So Jesus is saying that John is the equal of any prophet who lived before him, explaining: “Truly I say to you people, Among those born of women there has not been raised up a greater than John the Baptist; but a person that is a lesser one in the kingdom of the heavens is greater than he is. But from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of the heavens is the goal toward which men press.” Jesus is here showing that John will not be in the heavenly Kingdom, since a lesser one there is greater than John. John prepared the way for Jesus but dies before Christ seals the covenant, or agreement, with his disciples, for them to be corulers with him in his Kingdom. That is why Jesus says that John will not be in the heavenly Kingdom. John will instead be an earthly subject of God’s Kingdom. See Luke 7:18-30

Yes, but not until after Jesus opened the gates of heaven for us by dying on the Cross. The Catholic Church believes that those who die never hearing of Christ but have sought the truth and does the will of God as they understand it can be saved. See Romans 2:13-16. If they died before Jesus died for our sins and opened the gates of heaven for us, then they waited in what is called in the Old Testament Abraham's bosom or Sheol. Catholics believe that after Jesus died on the cross, he descended into Sheol, the place of the dead. While there He freed the holy souls who awaited their savior in Abraham's bosom. So John the Baptist, Noah, Abraham, Moses, the Prophets, and even Adam and Eve may be in heaven. For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, section 632 and following: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt1sect2chpt2art5.shtml#p1 With love in Christ.
