When i try to play a game on my PS2 neither of my controllers work. Both controller slots are unresponsive. Do I need a new PS2 or is there a way to repair it?

  I just got a ps2 and when im using the bottons at the browser/setting menue for the consule it works fine but when i put in a game it won't allow me to press x or o, i just bought a new controller 5 min ago, same problem
