  • The best thing to do is if he/she starts biting you, stop all physical contact and ignore them for a while. They will soon learn that biting is not acceptable. Also praise him/her when they play without biting and give them a treat. I find encouraging positive behaviour works a lot better than punishing bad behaviour, but sometimes it is handy to have a water gun around in case the cat jumps on the kitchen surface or something, but mostly ignoring them for a while is punishment enough.
  • If your kitten starts to bite while you are petting her face, put your finger in her mouth and tickle the roof4 of her mouth. Cats hate that and will immediately stop biting. You have to be consistent about it and never let your kitten use your hands as a plaything.
  • I have used water in a spray bottle and it worked quick and well.
  • The water gun is a good training method, but it is recommended that you do it in a way so that your cat doesn't see you. The spray is supposed to "come from nowhere", so that the cat doesn't stop feeling safe with you. I agree that it's best to just stop all physical contact when the biting occurs. Kittens bite because it is how they played with their siblings. Try diverting his/her attention with a toy, too. My kittens stopped biting when I used the last 2 mentioned methods, but they still give me "kiss bites" from time to time. I love it :)
  • I blow in my cat's face and she stops.Water in a little squirt bottle works also.
  • Put it outside.
  • First, we need to establish what kind of biting it is. Is it clamping and agressive bite, or is it s soft holding onto you with it's teeth. Cats hug each other by holding on gently with teeth. If that is what your cat is doing, it's a sign of love. If it seems agressive, do not jerk your hand away, a gentle tap on the nose and say in a clear stern (but not too loud) voice "no".
  • Put the kitten down and ignore it. If it misses the interaction with you, it will only get handled if it does not bite you. A certain amount of biting with a kitten is normal, they are teething, your cat might be growing in his adult teeth.
  • keep a spray bottle handy, or even just a good solid "No." can do wonders. My cat's learned that if someone says "no" that mean's we are not happy with what she's doing. no matter what, don't hit the cat. instead of punishment, they see it as provocation.
  • Try making a sharp 'ssssssss!' sound. Cats hiss at each other when they are upset or angry, and react instantly to hisses.
