If someone rings your doorbell , do you automatically answer it , or do you look out of the window to see who it is first?

I have cctv front and back with talk/answer facility, I dont live in a bad area or anything I just can't be bothered getting up to reject salesmen, etc :o)

When my dog was alive, I didn't answer the door at all, because she was way too protective. I simply removed the doorbell and put up a sign that I don't answer the door. I still have the sign up, and no one bothers me.

I just open the door. I live in a safe neighborhood and for the most part don't need to worry about who might be at the door.

I look first. I have an early warning system so I can see who is coming up the drive before they reach the door.

I definitely peep first. I don't appreciate uninvited visitors.

I always look to see who it is. Not only is it a habit, but it's just good common sense.

I don't have a peephole in my door so I usually peek out of a window unless my dog is in the house with me. If killer is by my side, I have no worries.

I always peep through the hole. If it is an obvious panhandling, rip-off, "Hello, sir, I notice your bushes need trimming,....", I just ignore the creep. If it is a law officer, I think fast, wonder what I may have done, decide I haven't, and open the door. >>> If it is a freind bearing food and beer, he knows not to ring the front doorbell or knock. He knows the back door is open.

My doorbell doesn't work but if some-one knocks at the door I turn my tv on to check who it is as I've got CCTV outside, handy when you want to pretend not to be in!! only joking!! :O0

I have a buzzer for my flat, and I don't really have any unexpected visitors so I never answer it, but I do look out the window, most times I can't see anything! It is especially annoyin when I'm trying to have a liein and the postman buzzes EVERYONE in my building!! THERES A SERVICE BUZZER FOR HIM GRRrrrr

All of our doors are double glass panels. There is no peeking here lol!!!

I usually just answer it, since nobody except those who live up here can get in the security door, so it has to be one of the 2 neighbors.

I just answer it. Whether I look or not, there is still a person there, so I just answer the door and scare 'em away!

I grew up in the city. I'm looking first, but you will not know I'm looking. Then I'll decide if I'm gonna let you in or not.

I used to answer it all the time, but I regret it afterwards 'cos they're usually sales people, churchgoers or something like that, and they don't interest me. That's why, I usually peep thru the peep-hole just to double check who it is. Funnily enough, I get a lot of people looking for friends coming to my door, and I'm thinking 'shouldn't you know where your friend lives?!'

I almost never answer the door. All of our friends and family just walk in without knocking. We live out in the country, so we don't have door to door salesmen, neighbors or JW's dropping by. If someone rings the doorbell, they don't belong, and it doesn't get answered.

ME personally I would look out the peep hole to see who it is, if it's someone who annoys me that way I don't have to deal with them I can act like I'm not home.

I have CCV aimed at my front door. I use it.

I can see then through the glass on the door and if they seem respectable enough, I open the door.Usually the worst we ever get is people trying to sell religion.

If I'm not expecting anyone I don't answer it at all. In fact, I don't do anything...
