Help answer this question below.

I know they made Ranger FX4 in 2001-2003, but I saw some 2001-2003 Rangers that say 4x4 on them. Did they make Rangers that say 4x4 instead of FX4 in those years, or should I be wary of those?

    Let me make it clear I'm not a Ford fan by any degree so I may be wrong on this.

    From what I know Fx4 is simply Ford's way of saying 4x4. Think about it - FORD by four - smart marketing guy eh?

    No difference in the components, etc. Simply the decals on the side are different. It's like taking the lettering on a car and changing one letter. The car is still the same, there is just a cosmetic change,

    ford is a very well manufactured vehical no one should be wary of anything the ranger is one of the best ford products out on the line today any of those models are very good and will last forever if you take care of them for instince my 1998 ranger just rolled over 200,000 miles and it runs like the day i purchaced it hopefully i have given you a good enough answer

    you are all full of shit fx4 is a suspension packege the 4x4 is just a 4x4 ranger the fx4 is a better suspension packege on the truck
