  • If everybody had a job that was usefull the unemployment rate would be tremendous, rich people have extra money and its easier to farm a rich person than a peice of land extraspecially when all you gotta do is press a button.
  • In the old days, it wasn't "pushing a button" - the elevator operator had to start and stop the car smoothly and where you didn't trip. Now, the e-person can be considered a part of security (I would think - even if it's not part of the job description). They can tell who went up, to where, etc. It's also nostalgic.
  • TAlk about a easy job, wheres the application? Ill do 8 hours of pressing elevator buttons. But yeah when youre rich you have money to piss away.
  • I've been hit by elevator doors often enough that I would be grateful for some help from an elevator operator. It also seems like they would offer more security. Maybe they would be more aware if the elevator needs maintenance. It would definitely keep people from using the elevator for a toilet.
  • my wife dont need door man even if im out a woman dont need to open doors ect that what im suposed to do.that just the way i got brought up.
  • How nice would it be to be able to complain to your friends that your elevator man was sick.
  • When I was much younger, most elevators had a elevator man in department stores, etc. Many of the elevators had extra steel mesh doors that had to be lifted in addition to the buttons or even a lever that had to be moved according to which floor you wanted to stop on. No, I'm not ancient - only 52 with a good memory.
  • I'm glad there's a lift operator. I can never imagine bein cought in an elevator alone. I'd die of fear if that happens.
  • I am 46 and don't think I have ever come across an elevator man in my life, nor have I heard of any here.
  • I totally agree with you. Look at it this way, at least it helps uneployment.
