Yes, I think I would. If I could have my own private island somewhere warm, keep some pigs, some chickens, grow some food, I'd be happy. Who needs you people?
-
Yes.

Nope ...life wouldn't be interesting and wouldn't give me a chance to do good :-)

YES I could easily live that way. I had gotten so tired of the news I quit watching it. Every time I watched it there was some horrible story and I would end up depressed the whole day. I have to admit I do not miss it a bit!!

Yes. To a large extent we do that already. We can't absorb the atrocities that are happening everywhere so we just tune out. The nightly TV news becomes entertainment instead because it is too grim to watch otherwise.

Yes, I believe I would. But it might be possible to live in peace amidst the storm of the world's troubles. It's called detachment. I can be aware of the events, but I don't have to own them. I can let them go.

The reason we use salt on our food is that it brings out the flavor, sharpens the taste. Some people prefer bland food but most prefer food with a variety of tastes. So too is life. You would not be able to live a life free from pain and discomfort, confusion and obstruction. All you would be able to do would be to isolate yourself from the extraordinary variety of life experiences and limit those experiences to more predictable and uninteresting obstacles. I would definitely prefer to experience, as I do, the vicissitudes of daily life, complete with honking horns, lying politicians, starving Africans, gang bangers, road rage and the sun shining on a snow-covered mountain top, a quiet lake surrounded by towering pines and the smell of coffee and bacon in the morning.

I think that while it is great to be removed from the worse parts of the world, it's also a good thing to know that it does exist and that there are ways to deal with things, which don't involve totally shutting them out.
