They might want the attention or just want to feel popular.
-
Desperate may be a bit strong, but I am sure some are seeking a little human interaction.
-
who cares why they ask its all up to them its their choice and their reasonings for the questions
-
Why would you think that?
-
I ask questions when I don't feel like answering most of the questions that I read.
-
I do. I'm so lonely;)
-
Maybe just a little at times.

Yes.

That might explain why an asker will say in one question "I'm a teen with no friends" and "My teen age daughter won't listen to me" followed by "I don't want any children, am I wrong"? and "My boyfriend's wife hates me because I have the baby she always wanted" plus "My college teacher has a crush on me, what should I do?" I suppose it could all be true, but highly unlikely.

Well, not "just because" or even "desperate" but interacting with people instead of google might be why people ask some questions. Afterall, if we didn't have the people thing here I wouldn't have any motivation to stay. And, the comments are where you can really get to know people.

Sometimes. Maybe they are lonely and just want to communicate. Is that not what this site is for?
-
Sure, why not? I don't really see anything wrong with that. I would rather someone ask questions than feel lonely in a community of 440,000.
