It would help. Even gifted people who are born with talent need some refining.
-
It is not actually required to do so. Some actors/actresses are famous and did not go to acting schools.

yes

Not unless you're a comedian.
-
No. However, it helps if you lack the skills or the looks or the talent.
-
No, you don't have to, but if you're not good at acting then it wouldn't hurt.

Hi, It really isn't necessary to take classes. Just like kyogre said, many actors and actresses never had any formal training. In fact, Brad Pitt never showed any signs of interest in acting until he ran off to Hollywood with only $325 in his pockets no less. Acting classes can actually be a bigger waste of time than you'd expect too. Check this out to see why I say this: http://celebsystem.com/cgi-bin/articles.cgi?title=why-acting-classes-arent-so-great Your best bet is to get out there and get some experience to hone your skills, and then you'll be ready to take the first few steps on the path to becoming an actor. Good luck! -K http://www.celebsystem.com

As a Casting Director with over 20 years of experience in discovering top talent, I would tell you that the majority of great actors and actresses have had some sort of training. It may not be at an acting school, but like any other skill, it requires some raw talent combined with hard work. Many people think they can just come to Hollywood and be discovered, but it's not that easy. If you'd like to find out if YOU have what it takes to be a star, then visit http://www.AreUaStar.com - where you'll find great information on getting into showbiz, guest star video blogs from successful Hollywood pros AND you can have one of our top Casting Directors evaluate YOUR star potential. www.AreUaStar.com

Unless you are Spencer Tracy, it is a good idea to learn some skills. It is true that some people just have a natural talent, but even natural talent needs some technique to help refine what they have. When you hit upon roles that are more difficult, then you will be glad you have some technique to fall back on to help you navigate the rough waters. If you look at the best actors around (I am not talking celebrities or movie stars, but really great actors) you will see the places they have studied and the teachers they have studied under. +3

Fact from fiction, truth from diction. No, all you need to be these days is a draw, a famous athlete, reality star, rapper etc. Or you have to have a Hollywood name, a family who is in the business; nepotism is almost a cottage industry in Hollywood. I can point out a dozen present actors right off the bat who only got their gig because of who their father, mother, grandfather, brother etc were. And many of these "actors, and actresses" eventually learned to act, but they really stunk in the beginning of their careers. No brainer there, they only got parts because of their family ties not because they honed their chops in acting school and community theater. You can be a rapper, comedian, Olympic athlete and get acting jobs if you are popular even if you could not act your way out of a wet paper bag with an ice pick.
