  • It's being rational. In fact, refusing to accept any religion-based culture is rational.
  • No -- it's not racist because, by definition, it's not about race. It's about CULTURE. And not all cultures or worldviews are equally worthy of consideration.
  • It is not racist as it has nothing to do with race. It is an idea and ideas are all open for criticism. With reference to women's rights in Islam it is not just Islam but the local cultural elements as well. Jordanian women have far more rights than Afghani women for example. SO it is not quite as simple as "Islamic" culture. Systematic repression of anyone's rights should be challenged and brought down.
  • when i think of racism, i think about people "hating" or "being ugly" (yeah...that's my mommy line) to someone based on what they believe,who they are or where they came from....your refusal to accept something for yourself is not racist~it's your right! i don't particularly agree with that culture's treatment of women and would not choose that for myself but i also do not condemn them for their choice~if they "choose" that or are happy with it.
