Guys don't have to do the asking. The girl can ask if she wants to. It varies from couple to couple.

The reason is because women want it that way. Don't ever kid yourself into thinking that chivalry is dead.

One of my nieces asked her now husband to marry her 18 years ago and they've been married since. At the time she use to get teased a lot about it but times have changed.

I asked my wonderful love to marry me this past Christmas morning. I wrote a beautiful letter to him which he read aloud (in fron of my 3 kids)(they knew what was going on by the way). Tears were coming from his eyes, and when he moved the letter away (I had placed the letter in a shirt box), there was a jewelry box under it. I looked at him, and told him that the kids and I love him so much and that we always wanted to be with him. I asked him to open the box, and when he did, I asked him to marry me. He saw the wedding ring I picked out for him, looked at me and said "of course I'll marry you", and with that, we had a giant group hug, and he (47) and I (48) are getting married this year!
