why not?

Just a guess, but people who do are probably looking for fast points. Get a question out that's popular, you'll have people answering who sincerely want to answer, people answering to tell the asker they're a moron for not knowing the answer, etc.
-
Because its nice to know others experiences and views also.
-
To see if anyone else knows the answer.
-
Just to see if my answers are the norm -- to see if other people's way of thinking coincides with my own.
-
Either to share info. or for those that enjoy a good search or trivia challenge as I do.
-
Personally, I dont. But if I was it would be to justify my answer by knowing others may share the same opinion.

I like to answer questions about topics on which I've already developed opinions just to see what other people think. It's a good way to have healthy debates and expand your thinking :)

to get points
-
points points and more points!
-
I like to see the different ways people look at things. What I think is a right answer there will always be someone else who thinks it is a wrong answer. ;)
-
I either wish to hear different viewpoints or as is usual I tend to ask questions that require factual answers. If I do not know the answer myself how am I to know if the replies given are correct particularly if they differ.
-
I adore wrong answers.
