LOL...
Well I moved from San Jose, CA to Ann Arbor, MI in December when I was 16 and I had a Camaro at the time. I had no clue about snow. In fact in drivers Ed in CA they talked for 10 minutes about getting stuck and told us to read the manual in the car and call for a tow truck. We all went ya ya... never gonna happen...
So I'm going to this new school, everyone hates me... I'm the california blonde girl whos all stuck up is what they are thinking I guess... Well this one Friday it snows like 8 inches and the parking lot at school is not plowed. I walked out to my Camaro, brushed the snow off with a map and got in to drive home like normal. I backed out, turned down the idle and drove by the guys lining up to get on the bus for a football game and right in front of them I start to slow down and just stop. I push on my gas and don't even move. I was like huh!? I tried reverse, couldn't move that way either! I was stuck and right in front of all those guys! I wanted to die! Anyway a nice guy finally came over and gave me a push. I was pretty embarrassed to say the least.
About two weeks later I did another dumb thing. I knew I didn't do real well in snow so I tried not to drive much but this store was having a sale and I needed some new clothes so I drove in really bad weather to this store and as I pulled into their lot I slid down the hill it was that slick. I pulled up in front of the store and they were closed. I learned that lots of businesses shutdown when the weather is supposed to get bad. So I figure ok I'll head home. Well just trying to get going I sat there and spun my rear wheels for like 10 seconds... I turned around slowly and tried to go up the hill to get out of their lot... I only made it about 1/2 way up. Too slippery.
So I'm like crap... how am I gonna get out of here. I backed down and saw there was another exit across the way so I turned around almost getting stuck doing that and started to head toward the exit. There was this tiny tiny little pile of snow and I wasn't thinking and drove into it. My front wheels went though... then I stopped and my back wheels were just spinning. I automatically tried reverse but when I couldn't back out I was like oh oh... I tried drive again.. no movement, reverse... ok Jen... I think you are stuck... What now...
Well I didn't have anything in the car to help at all. So I sat there for about 10 minutes just trying to rock free and getting nowhere. I was getting a little panicky when I noticed that I could see the reflection of my car in the window of the store and I could see my right rear wheel spinning when I would try to go.
I have to admit... my fear turned a little into kind of a fascination as I watched myself spin in the snow. It was kind of erotic knowing I had so much power at the tip of my toes but all I could seem to do was spin my rear wheel.
Anyway a cop came and pushed me out. That was a little embarrassing. He told me to go home before I got stuck again. LOL
