The "rightness" of law is as subjective as the freedoms purportedly being infringed upon. The only true freedom is the lack of law and restraint and mandate. The line between liberty and constraint is wherever one wishes to compromise.

Trouble with freedom and liberty is, one bad apple spoils the bunch and gives politicians license to legistlate the bunch ad infinitum. Sadly, people do not believe in the fact that personal responsibility is a huge obligation when handed freedom and liberty at no cost to themselves. The end result, as all great civilizations have realized throughout history, is inevitable implosion from the natural tendancy towards irregular government. Ultimately, I don't believe that humans were meant to live in groups the size we have reached on this planet. Smaller, more cohesive city-states or societies are always more reasonable and easy to maintain. Just IMHO :~)
